Praying for Mallory

I tried to get my sister to name her Claire De Lund (classical song) or Claire Anette Lund (instrument haha) but as it turns out, meet Mallory Claire Lund. Our little niece was born on May 5th, according to my nephew Jackson's prophesy. After having two rambunctious boys we never thought that our oldest sister Lea Ann would finally have a girl! She's already graceful with her feminine features but unfortunately she's recently had a bladder infection. After being on antibiotics my sister took her to Vanderbilt for more testing. Please pray for our sweet little niece Mallory.

Here's the scoop from my sister Lea Ann AKA Dr. Lund: Mallory has VUR (vesicoureteral reflux) in both kidneys. This means that the urine in the bladder backflows on both sides and causes some dilation of the kidneys which could cause permanent damage if it continues. Most children with a grade 1-3 out of 5 will outgrow it. Mallory's is a grade 4  on the right, and grade 3 on the left. Not good. It may be a surgical issue in the future if it gets any worse, or if she has any more infections despite antibiotics.
She also has duplication of one part of her kidneys (duplex kidneys) that causes them to be at an angle that doesn't drain the urine properly; increasing risk of infection. Not to mention... bladder infections HURT!!
Please pray for her protection, and that surgery will not be required. There is a 25% chance of her reflux getting better in 3 to 4 years so they will watch and wait for now.

We know that the Lord will take care of her. This website explains it well if you're interested:http://www.pedisurg.com/PtEduc/Vesicoureteral_Reflux.htm

Whatever the outcome: God is good. And if you need a pediatrician I highly recommend Dr. Lea Ann Lund in Hendersonville, TN. We love you Mallory!

Love,
Your favorite Aunt Caroline and Uncle Blake
