Keepin Strong

What do you do when your husband suffers from vegaphobia (fear of vegetables)? You do what any wife would do... continue to hide vegetables in meals, cover vegetables with cheese, or offer him a vitamin! Now I must say, Blake has done a great job continuing to try new veggies since we've gotten married.  We had a bottle of the regular (hard) vitamins and he didn't seem to want to take them because they were difficult to swallow; they were rather large! So, against my will I found some MARVEL COMIC SUPER HERO GUMMIES ON SALE at Target! Blake has never been so excited... "they taste like candy!" hahaah  However, I found that after borrowing my sister's Magic Bullet food chopper... you can puree veggies and hide them in your dinner. For example, you can grind up peppers and add them to pasta sauces for a tangy kick. We added a red pepper puree to our classic Alfredo recipe and it was great! You can also add the puree to tomato sauce as well. Needless to say, all i

Zesty Rigatoni

Another pasta! I promise we eat vegetables...it's jut more fun to cook pasta dishes! Here's a tangy Rigatoni recipe that Blake and enjoyed; it was so flavorful! However, I added way too much salt to the pasta water which made this dish overwhelmingly salty! So, hold off on salting your water unless you plan on drinking a gallon of milk in one sitting. It's very fun to make! Enjoy. Zesty Rigatoni 1 box Rigatoni 1/8 cup extra virgin olive oil 1/4 lb pancetta 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, to taste 3 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 cup white wine 1 large egg yoke 1/4 cup grated romano cheese Handful of finely chopped fresh parsley Cook pasta, cook pancetta on medium with olive oil for 3 min, then add red pepper flakes, garlic and cook 2-3 minutes more. Add wine and stir up all the yummy flavor. Beat yoke in a bowl, add 1/2 ladleful of the hot pasta water to egg, and stir. Drain pasta, add it directly to the skillet with pancetta and oil. Pour the egg mixture over

Heart Day

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you have had a wonderful Valentine's Day so far! Blake has filled the whole day with surprises! First, he made an invisible trip to my desk at work with chocolates and flowers (somehow???) and even tied a balloon to my car! Then, he told me I had to write down 50 romantic things by 5:00. So, I followed this challenging order, wrote out my list, and headed home. Finding more chocolates at home, two notes, and my Blake, I found out the surprise! Mr. Creative told me we are going to go through each other's to do-date lists for the next two years! (how sweet!! aw!) The funny part is, I'm going to have to do some tweaking because I wrote things such as the "moon, snow, chocolate, New York, Europe," etc. I mean, they're romantic things?! I'm really looking forward to drawing out of our little jar of ideas this year! Thank you Blake! (with the biggest smile and giggle I can conjure up) The night is young and the cookies....

Superbowl Strawberries... GO PACKERS!

Image
Happy Superbowl! Blake and I had so much fun making these little footballs together! Blake dipped the green while I dipped the milk chocolate. As you can seeee, we rooted for the Packers this year...only because we don't like the Stealers! I wish that I could say we were devoted Packers fans but you know what this means; next time we have a VOLS gathering these babies will be decked out in orange and white! We even made Superbowl Pretzels mmmmm  so proud of this multitasking!  always practice and do a taste test :) To draw the laces, all you need to do is melt some white chocolate, put it in a plastic bag, cut the corner off, and draw on the little laces. Aw, there just so cute!!

My First Official Order: Strawberry Cake & Chocolate Strawberries

Image
Oh, don't you love strawberry cake? In case you missed it, here's the recipe . You can even make a lingerie cake out of it. Want to order one? Let me know! (just click on the links to see more) I've been so excited to share this with you! There's always a story behind the sweet. My sister's nurse Stacey with an E had a Birthday last week and I was so delighted to provide the cake. I tried to be as professional as possible. I traveled over to Michael's craft store and bought all the appropriate supplies including doilies, a cardboard platter, box with window, and some mini cup cake liners for the strawberries. And guess what: I even got another chocolate covered strawberry order for Valentine's Day! Yay! I'm so excited to make them again. thank you Jesus Since I couldn't find our scotch tape, and tape isn't nearly as pretty as ribbon, I just secured the cake box with some pretty ribbon left over from our wedding believe it or not (I'm not a

Two Birthdays One Cake

Image
Last weekend we had some special visitors come into town! Blake's Mom, Lonas, Mamaw, and Papaw came to visit us bright and early Sundy' morning. Blake's family always impresses me with how well they outdo each other in love (Romans 12:10). They drove all the way from Maryville, TN (pronounced muravle) to attend our church, share stories, hugs, birthday presents, and cake of course! But, what you may not know is that Blake's Papaw was born on the same day that little Blake came into this world! He was sure to retell that famous story again before we lit the birthday candles. We had such a great visit and regret that we can't be around such fine people more often. We love you all! The original idea behind Pilsbury's Confetti Cake click me to make be bigger I admit, this cake turned out a little too dry. I called my mom while mixing it because her hand typed recipe with crucial, faded, penciled in notes had failed me (was it one cup of milk or two?!) a crisis in

Meet Kelsey and Dwayne Gibbs To Be

Image
Ooooh we're just so excited about this! I've been keeping a big secret from my dear friend Kelsey for a few weeks now and I am so relieved that I don't have to hide it anymore! God is so faithful and blesses us more than we will ever ever deserve. I know these two will live a life pleasing to Him. We are so happy for Dwayne and Kelso as they are recently betrothed (said in an english accent). :) We had a little surprise/birthday party for them so that we could all get together as friends to celebrate. It was so great to see some of our old Murfreesboro friends who drove all they way up to White House!  I decided I'd just whip up a little cookie cake for them and it seems that everyone enjoyed it since there was none to take home! We played some games, fellowshipped, and laughed as guests trafficked through. I couldn't resist getting my sweet friend some sweet smelling flowers and of course the latest bridal magazine! I can't wait to help her as much as she help
