Skiiiiing and Chocolate Chip Cookies

Image
Taking pictures of baked goods just never gets old for me. These cookies will blow Pilsbury out of the water!! However, Nestle cookies are my second favorite so I won't bash them. It's all in the dark brown sugar :) We recently shared these with our good friends as they made the perfect treat on our way to Paoli Peaks in Indiana last weekend. We had the privilege of skiing with the best youth group around! Blake and I had never been skiing together and I'm so grateful that I finally had the chance to show him up! Hah, my mom and step dad always took us skiing growing up...i was that kid that always left those sticky lift tickets on my jacket until the jacket no longer fit. Our youth group would take a ski trip every year as well; nothing around here compares to the slopes in Colorado! We had such a great time!! Nothing like a three hour ride home with no heat. Blake and I just covered our heads with blankets while kels and D were completely covered head to tow in individua

Happy 23rd Burfday Blake!

Per Blake's request: a massive and messy Cookies and Cream Cake. I love my Blake so much! Happy Birthday to the most caring, handsome, gentle, humble, hilarious, creative, and encouraging servant. homemade chocolate cake from my momma's bakery cookbook. if you'd like the recipe let me know...otherwise you can use those boxed imposters ahah sifting all ingredients together :) this is why you sift! easier than it looks! to make an ice cream layer you can use a springform pan or line a cake pan with ice cream, freeze, and remove, while making a big mess along the way. warm a knife repeatedly with a cup of hot water to carve the ice cream out. glory! i definitely prefer the Smucker's  decorate :)

Not Your Typical Parmesan Chicken

Image
Growing up, I was required to contribute to the family by cooking a few times a week. No excuses, meat, veggie, side, bread, set the table, and pour drinks. As you can imagine, I usually threw in a free dessert as well. It all started with the oldest sister of five teaching the younger one. One of my favorite meals to make was Parmesan Chicken. However, I remember the first time I made it I didn't realize that you could actually buy breadcrumbs... yeah... I toasted almost a whole loaf of bread, got out that knife, and scraaaaped away! More like burt toast chicken haha. Needless to say, I'm so grateful for cheap, Kroger brand italian breadcrumbs!!! Start your angel hair pasta (buy the healthy kind if you can) and either make your favorite red sauce as you see here or pop your favorite tom sauce open.  EVOO and Garlic...can't go wrong!  Here's where the fun begins. Make sure your chicken is thawed btw. Use a cup of bread crumbs, 1/2 cup parmesan chz, freshly ground blac

Blaker's New Look

Image
So, for our new CD we thought we would try a more hard rock look. What do you think? Just Kidding!!! We had a dress up over the top night at church. I think he looks kinda handsome don't you?

Experiments with Snow

Image
Thanks to my office and the snow, Blake and I had an extra day to spend together! It's always a sweet surprise to wake up to white powdery fluff on the ground and even though we just bought six gray pairs for him; a husband with no socks on!? We even have Williams Sonoma peppermint hot chocolate if we wish to indulge. I already missed the opportunity to take some creative snow shots during the last two snows this year so this was my second chance! Blake drove me down by my favorite barns, over to see our nephews and niece, to get some hot Panera soup, and after pulling over on the side of the road multiple times this is what I came up with. Thankful for slow snow days, a patient husband, and my pink fluffy toboggan. "it's so bright" ahahah
