All I Can Say Is Thank You!

Image
Hello friends! I have missed sharing with you but this week has been very busy for us. Blake and I have been spending some quality time with our choir learning some amazing Easter music! We've loved getting to know so many sweet, thoughtful, and talented people at our new church. And, as you can see, I've been baking up a storm the past few days. It's so cool to have new customers and new orders. I finally printed menus and handed them out too; pray for my small kitchen to brace itself! After leaving my job this week, God providing a new job starting tomorrow, and a slew of sweet orders, I am overwhelmed with thankfulness. I even have two more orders for this week, how awesome! I am just bouncing off the walls with joy, not because of sugar! This week hasn't only been about sweets though, the Lord has been teaching me about meeting Him prayer. Paul Miller states, "prayer doesn't offer us a less busy life but a less busy heart." I challenge you to go to God

My First Sweets Video

Image
Hello Friends! Blake made this cool video for me randomly so I thought that I would share. Didn't he do a great job? Love my Blake! Don't worry, the strawberry that I had to dig out with my clean hands was eaten by me! And please excuse our small, cute, cluttered kitchen! We're saving up for a kitchen with a house! Hopefully the first video of many! Enjoy!

Soapbox: A soapbox is a raised platform on which one stands to make an impromptu speech.

Image
I hardly do this but here's my Soapbox moment! (Well, I do this in person but just not on this blog much ahah) so, it's important! OUR FULL POTENTIAL (limited, human, earthly) VS GOD'S POTENTIAL I'm saddened as much as I am disgusted. Joel Osteen is speaking in Nashville this week...BARF! I don't hate him but I HATE his message. First, I pray that God would open the eyes of these followers who will never satisfy their hunger. Sorry to be so crass but I actually bought this book in when I was in high school thinking that it would be encouraging. I remember specifically taking the book, trying to decide wether it would go in the trash bag, the Goodwill bag, or take to college bag.  (this still happens ahah) I didn't give it another chance to corrupt anyone else's life... I wanted to burn it but for the sake of not appearing as an ever more dramatic graduating senior...I just threw it in my trash bag with an added "stupid book!!" If you don

Rocky Mountain High!

Image
Oh those BLUE SKIES! We had such a great trip to Colorado! I hope you know John Denver's song "Rocky Mountain High." You should listen to it every time you drive into CO! Blake and I had never been there together so it was very special. I had been there with my youth group and actually a youth choir where we sang everywhere between TN and CO...even for James Dobson! We visited with Blake's sister Whitney and her husband Patrick...and of course their doggies! I went on my second venture skiing on those amazing slops, Blake had his first Colorado skiing experience, and we both had our first trail ride out west! Can you believe we actually went to the Melting Pot too; now that's a vacation! Although we had a great time with Blake's mom, sister, and brother-in-law, the trip just wasn't the same without Papa Lonas! He's not officially called Papa Lonas but his daughter has a little one on the way! We're trying to help pick out Grandparent names for them

Three Sweet Orders And A Sad Lolly Cat :)

Image
Hello friends! Well, right before we took off for Colorado you could find me in the kitchen dippin strawberries and writing "Happy Birthday Frog" on a strawberry cake! You may think that preparing all of this right before take off would stress me out but it's actually the opposite! Baking is so therapeutic for me! As you see there's a half dozen strawberry order, dozen, and cake. How exciting! I also handed out my first official menu and was told that I need to add my picture to it! When I get to a finishing point i promise i'll share a pdf will ya'll! Thank you for all of your enthusiasm and support. While I was baking, poor kitty didn't get any attention. As you can see, Lolly was so sad that we were leaving her. She technically could fit in my suitcase! Poor Lolly :( Don't you love this Paula Dean styled box? I'd want to get strawberries in this pretty thing! Thanks to Michael's and 40% off!!! I also found pink ink pads on sale for two dol

SIX MORE ORDERS!

Image
Hello again friends! I can't believe it; I've had six more orders this week! First, Mr. Carey Hook and his wife happen to be family friends of ours. They own many Marble Slab Creameries including the one in Murfreesboro, TN where I worked as a new college student (hints the ice cream cone added on the top right due to my lack of center spacing). My sister and her husband knew that his favorite cake was Red Velvet so I gladly whipped up a miniature one for my old boss! If he orders it again I'll probably give it to him for free because one time I dropped a whole bucket of chocolate sprinkles!!! (One topping is like fifty cents these days!!)  As I delivered the Red Velvet cake I met Karen who ordered a cookie cake! I've had a hard time learning how to write pretty with this new Pampered Chef frosting gun! Basically, I've learned that using my normal small tipped decorator tubes (as seen above on cake) that it looks wrinkly on cookie cakes since they're textured.

Baby Boy Oreo Truffles

Image
Hello friends! This may look like a lolly pop but it's actually one of those yummy Oreo Truffles decorated to resemble a baby's rattle...maybe!? There is a young couple whom our church is having a shower for this afternoon. Unfortunately it's a sad situation and they don't have a lot of support. Hardly a place to stay, money, not even a bed to sleep on. We're all coming together as women of the church to shower her with anything and everything we can find to help! I'm excited that I can share these little balls of joy :)  I remember the first time that I had an Oreo Truffle; I was sitting next to Blake at his old apartment before we started dating. Blake's lovely Momma Leigh Ann had specially wrapped them in candy boxes! I was so overwhelmed with the smooth richness...have you had one!!? You know what I mean. All you need is one bag of Oreos separated, one 8oz block of cream cheese and some white/colored chocolate. Of course, if you're like me then you&

One Weekend 2011

Image
Just a few moments from One Weekend at good ol' Belle Aire Baptist last weekend! One Weekend is pretty much the equivalent to "D-Now"...a weekend filled with praise and worship, Bible study, video scavenger hunts, late night at the MTSU Rec Center, etc. Some of you know already but Blake and I met at Belle Aire and it was our church family for quite a while! I'm so grateful that Kelsey and I could love on her small group girls. After the weekend was over, I wanted to take them all home with me! I hope I have girls some day! We had a great time staying up late talking, making crafty bags, eating junk food, praising God, studying His word, and getting to know Him more! Praise God for his grace and for the reminder that He is not impressed with religion, but desires to know us intimately.  who knows!?
