Second Year as Herrons

Oh what a happy anniversary!! I am so grateful to have spent the last two years with the most humble and loving husband! Who knew that the Lord would take us to a few new cities in two short years, and provide a house? We celebrated at The Melting Pot and little did we know, so did D and Kelsey! We also had the privilege of spending some quality time with Blake's family as they came in town for his ordination service! However, the actual day of our anniversary Blake was helping our church serve the community and I was helping a lovely friend make wedding invitations! It doesn't matter though, the longer celebration the better! I'm not big on giving advice unless you ask for it but I can share a little about what I've learned:

1. We all need to change
2. Marriage is not about happiness
3. Marriage is about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

1. Change. If our goal is to become more like Christ then we will constantly be a changing people. Being made more like Christ in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self -control is the Spirit's aim. When two people are constantly changing into Christ's image instead of merely the world's, there's PEACE! We get to change together!
2. Marriage isn't about happiness. Christ never promises happiness but he does promise J-O-Y. Christ wants us to suffer for his sake and again, be changed into his likeness! It's not easy!!! We are up against a world that wants to tear the family unit apart, and laugh at it on TV. If we are focused so much on our simple happiness, we'll miss the mark. Christ is our JOY, I pray we never idolize each other!
3. He is HOLY HOLY HOLY. How sweet it is to trust HIS WORD. I pray that we fall more in love with Jesus first. We are his hands and feet friends!
