we caught these cute pictures on the quilt Granna made for you with the stickers she gave us!
Baby, you are amazing. We have had so much fun learning all about you over the past month! We can't believe you are one month old today! We never knew we could love someone so much! It is hard to believe that God loved us so much that he GAVE his son to save us! I can't imagine how BIG that love is. Sometimes I just look at you and I've overcome with emotion because you are so precious and I don't want to ever do anything to harm you. I know we'll make mistakes and enjoy each day learning from the day before. You are such a blessing!
Here's what you looked like the day you were born...
We can't believe how big you are getting!
Here's what your cry face looks like! You hardly ever cry for more than five minutes and it's usually after I used that mean old booger sucker on you. You love to suck on your passy, your hands, and anything that gets near your mouth. You love talking to your mommy and daddy when we get up close to your face by making little "oh" noises.
As you hear in this video, I've got my "momma voice" on! I can't help but say, "momma loves you" all day! Daddy's voice sounds even funnier when he's talking to you, he sounds like Elmo! You should have heard daddy when we got back from seeing Les Mis, "can you hear the baby sing, singing the song of angry babies!" If you're a fan of the musical then you'll know what song this is! He tries to make up his own lyrics to every baby song and it's pretty hilarious. He does a great job changing your diapers, calming you down, telling you about his day, snuggling with you, and sometimes we have some of momma's milk for him to feed you in a bottle!
Daddy also does a way better job of swaddling you and getting you to burp than I do! I think you look exactly like him. Maybe when you get a little older you will start to look a little like your mom. You are so handsome though, it's hard not to squeeze your little cheeks! You like to smile every once in a while and we always try to catch it on camera! You barely fit into those newborn diapers or clothes anymore and it makes us a little sad but, we're glad you're growing big and strong! We think you're around ten pounds or so but your next doctor's appointment isn't until another month. It's been so hard to keep you inside away from all of our friends at church but it is the flu season and we want to keep you healthy! We have let you visit with family and you especially loved meeting your cousins;
You tend to get pretty stinky really quick so we were anxious to give you your first bath! You LOVED it!
I had to blur out the privates haha
You didn't like getting cold after the bath! However, so far, you have been a very content baby! You like to eat about every three to four hours and sometimes even five to six hours at night; we are so lucky! When I have a hard time waking up at night, I like to think of this quote...
Your Granna gave me this little book with all kinds of encouraging phrases in it! Thanks!
You enjoy sitting in your cozy little bouncy seat while mom gets ready for the day and you also enjoy your swing! You also have enjoyed your tummy time and you hold your head up really well for a few seconds already, it's amazing! I've even caught you rolling over in your pack n' play! We had you in a bassinet for about three weeks and you grew out of it so, you're loving your pack n' play in our room for now. Sometime soon we will move you to your big boy room! Around midnight you fall asleep and you don't have much awake time until around 11:00 so, most of the cute pictures we take of you are between 11-1:00pm when you are happy and ready to socialize! Here are some of my favorites of you that we've shared with our friends on Facebook.
after bath time!
Pop loves you!
we went on our first outing without you to see Les Miserables. Granna did a great job taking care of you!
Your first Christmas! This year we stayed in White House, TN for the holiday and some grandparents, great grandparents, great uncles, great aunts, and cousins came to visit you! Your momma's family got together over New Years and that is when you first met your aunt Jill and uncle Kevin.
Christmas with momma!
Granna, Lonas, Papaw, and Mamaw came to visit you!
Papa Dick, Nana, Uncle John, Julie, Jake, and Macy also came to see you too!
When Shelley and Kelsey came to visit you, they had a lot of fun!
you always look so handsome! everyone keeps saying that you are one of the cutest babies they have ever seen, that you're precocious, the most alert newborn, and that you are so expressive! We agree!
you like to toot a lot!
we love catching your smiles!
Zoolander baby? You have such big hands and feet little man!
Little Blue Truck Almost every day, Jude enjoys the rhythm and rhymes of a particular book about a little blue truck. This truck and a few adorably illustrated farm animals help a mean old dump truck ( HOOOONK ) learn a valuable lesson about making friends. We all need friends and the right kind; that is for certain. He can finish almost any phrase, make all the animal sounds, and turn each page as we snuggle together. We treasure those moments and hearing his animated "beep, beep, beep!" Since this little dude has such an attachment to the "Little Blue Truck" by Alice Shertle, we decided that it would be the perfect theme for his second birthday party. I tried not to go over-the-top since Jude could care less about all the matchy decorations. I get it. However, just as I thought, he LOVED the blue truck on his cake! I'm so glad his gaze stopped on the cake for two seconds to notice it... he wouldn't quite settle down until that truck was on th
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. ( Philippians 4:4-9, ESV) If there's one thing I find myself dwelling on lately, it's when will I have a normal day? There's something about predictability that is comforting. Every day after lunch I have to have some coffee... and
Fall Decor At Our Tennessee Home I apologize in advance for this crazy and loaded blog post. I tried blogging about one topic and then it just exploded. So, enjoy! Fall Afresh? What does that mean? It happens to be the lyric of one of my favorite songs lately. If you haven't heard of Bethel Music or Jeremy Riddle, here's a song that just might bless you. I love the lyrics! "Spirit of the living God, come fall afresh on me, come wake me from my sleep. Burn through the caverns of my soul, pour in me to overflow." That is my prayer!! I grew up singing hymns mostly so I knew this song came from this hymn , just in case you were unaware! I've been thinking a lot about seasons, particularly fall since it's my first fall away from home. This song just so happens to have the word fall in it so I just had to share it with you! I'm so thankful for the meaningful relationships we had in Tennessee. One special lady even surprised me just yesterday by
