Sister Amy's Baby Shower

HAPPY SHOWER! Say hello to my lovely sister Amy Laman! I can't tell you how excited I was to throw Amy a big old fashioned baby shower for her precious baby girl! Amy is due on June 26th for her first baby! Kevin and Amy live in Chattanooga, TN where they met and fell in love! They got married the same summer as we did in 2009 and shared the news that they were expecting over Thanksgiving. You can see the video below if you follow along! They are going to be amazing parents and I know that the Lord will continue to bless them.

Amy is two years older than I am so we were very close growing up. I had so much fun putting together a creative book themed shower for her! Thanks to friends, family, and definitely Pinterest... we pulled it off! It took about two months to put it all together but with some time management, hard work, and prayer... it all came together! My mom graciously contributed to the money I spent so that Amy could have a top notch shower! We couldn't wait to celebrate her! She had mentioned the idea of having a book shower a few times so I figured that I couldn't go wrong with what she preferred! We had such a special time sharing how we knew Amy, special stories of growing up together, sharing scripture, eating, opening gifts, watching a surprise video of her husband Kevin, and making hair bows!  We were honored to have our three aunts, cousin Heather, two of Amy's friends, our family friend Kelsey Gibbs, our mother, step mother, sisters, niece, close to sister Erin, and close to mother Jean with us! We started the festivities around 10:30 as we kicked all the boys out to go hang out at Michael's shop with a big Bob Cat truck and four wheeler. All I know is that every forehead was sunburnt! I'm glad they had fun! Blake was on his way to East Tennessee since we led worship in Alcoa, TN on Sunday so he couldn't join them.

Take a look at these adorable invitations I made from a free printable link I found online. Here's the link just in case you want them for your next shower! The only thing that I didn't prefer about these invitations was that you have to add extra information to them since it didn't include where to RSVP, where someone is registered, etc.

Don't forget to sign and nametag and give your address :) Here is a link to the labels in case you wanted to print some. Thanks to the lovely Tina at the Kroger in White House, TN who gave me extra hydrangeas for free! Yay! I should send her this picture!
Thank you Tina and Megan for all of your hand work making the pom poms with me! Whew, you guys rock!
Here are the main tables I set up with the food and drinks. I had so much fun picking out which book goes with each food item. I called Amy to see what food she was craving for the shower and everything she craved worked perfectly with a book. I did add some eggs, mints, cookies, and strawberries to her list! Here are some pictures I took really quickly! It's not easy to host and take a bunch of pictures but I did the best that I could!
Lea Ann made these amazing refreshments requested by the mother to be!

Thanks to Aunt Bitsy, this plate worked great! Also, thanks to my momma, the plate was full of veggies! Also, we popped open this book and sure enough, my dad had addressed it to Amy back in 1993! It was so sweet to see that hand written message inside. I should have taken a picture of it!
Becky made these beautiful cupcakes!
My mom made this beautiful fruit salad
I LOVE making wedding cookies!
I had some spare time and I thought, hmmm I bet she'd like some chocolate covered strawberries!
Thanks to Tina and Megan, I was able to make these precious cookies! Tina helped me "flood" them and they both were able to snuggle with Jude so that I could decorate them. Of course, Blake also helped snuggle with Jude too since these cookies take about 20 hours to complete! Crazy, but worth it!
"The Stinky Cheese Man" was one of my absolute FAVORITE books growing up! I wanted to buy it for my nephews but they aren't allowed to say the "s" word on the front of the book! Man! Jill made this amazing cheese ball, provided the Goldfish crackers and... these ham sandwiches
our favorite family mints!
Thanks for making these awesome eggs Becky!
In case you don't remember, Alice eats these cookies and shrinks, grows larger, etc. see...

Here are some more pictures of the cookies I had fun making! The "E" is apparently the mystery initial of Amy's baby girl! Woo hoo!

These bookmarks were amazing and special! Thanks sister Mary Beth! We missed having you there to celebrate :(
Thanks to Hobby Lobby and Michael's... this banner was a success! I hope she can use it again!

Thank you Blake for helping me make these mini books :)
Blake helped me make a secret video of Amy's husband Kevin answering a few daddy questions. Amy had no idea! Here was the "slideshow" background and here's the video! Enjoy!

It was so fun to see the surprise on everyone's faces but my favorite part is when he shares a message to Amy at the end. I can't believe they are going to have a baby! Oh, and if you watch the whole video, you'll see a tutorial with Jude in it :)
come on over and make a hair bow! i found so many cute ideas online!

there were many more bows made than this but these turned out AWESOME you guys!

two of Amy's sweet friends!
Jill and baby Jude :)
Erin and baby Jude! This is my brother-in-law's sister!
we are SO glad that our cousin Heather could join us as well as her mother, Janet!
Our Aunt Carol, Janet, and Glenda, as well as Becky and Heather watching Amy open gifts. I know this picture isn't the best but unfortunately some people had to leave early and we didn't get as many group shots :(

thanks to Kelsey who took some of these pictures so that I could relax and enjoy everything!

trying to relax and hold back tears of joy!
the adorable card that our mother got for Amy :)
So, I must tell you about this! We grew up sitting on the laps of our parents and sisters reading this certain children's Bible. I FOUDN IT ONLINE! Amy had no idea and I was so excited to see her face when she discovered what it was. Thankfully, she recognized it immediately!

" where did you find this?!"

OH MY GOSH... Becky did an AMAZING job on this bedding!

WE LOVE YOU AMY KAY! POOKIE! We can't wait to meet your precious girl!
