Thank You Moe!

Today, I was reminded that I have a tendency to be very stubborn.  Today was picture day. For us, that meant walking around the corner to the front of our neighborhood with a tripod and camera ready. We were all dressed up, prepared, and ready to capture that "perfect" Christmas picture that would spruce up any card design. Then, I remembered; we have a two-year-old. With the exception of a whole lotta' prayer and how we love and discipline our sweet son, we can't control him. He's two! We have to remember to be sensitive to his needs. Most of the time, Jude is actually pretty calm. He doesn't throw many temper tantrums but he certainly does get very strong willed at times. If he wants to walk around the park, then he will not be satisfied until he can do just that. You see, he didn't want to ride in the wagon or walk calmly towards the camera. (for just ONE PICTURE, come on!) He didn't want to sing a song, have a cracker, or play peek-a-boo. Nope...

Chewy Gingerbread Sandwiches

my favorite cookie plate :) thanks, Leigh Ann for the authentic tender Tennessee leaves Nothing tastes more like Christmas than gingerbread. Growing up, we always made gingerbread houses, cookies, and gingerbread ornaments. We ate more than we created, I'm sure. Hoping to continue the tasty memories for my little family, I searched online for a recipe. This baby girl and I were craving some spicy and sweet. I loved sharing these treats with some friends and we all agreed that this recipe is a keeper. There's just something about biting into a homemade cookie that makes people feel loved. Just don't eat too many or you'll feel something else, haha! Here are some other gingerbread cookies I decorated a few years ago in case you didn't want to make sandwich cookies out of this recipe. Oh, I love Christmas baking!   I want you to have the most successful (haha) baking experience with these so, here's a few tips before you get started. You can do it!  ...

Pumpkins, Lions, & Palm Trees

You know why I enjoy Halloween? I enjoy Halloween because it's a night where we come out of our four walls, into the streets, and experience a sense of community among our neighbors. The kids look adorable and the candy isn't so bad either, haha. I do find it very odd that probably only one house out of the homes in our whole neighborhood who decorated for Halloween didn't decorate their house with gory, bloody figures everywhere! Geez Louise! When we went on our power walk around the neighborhood this week, Jude and I had to dodge a skull with a knife in the eye hanging from a tree. Haha! In Tennessee, I feel like more often you'd see mums, pumpkins, corn stalks, scare crows,  and gourds as decorations. These poor kids were scared last night, haha!  We enjoyed trick-or-treating with the Elliott's this year and as Desire Church! It was an unusually cool and pleasant evening. Blake and I agreed that last night was one of the best memories we've made here...
