This picture at the lake house reminds me of how beautiful it is to be in the light... sometimes it's hard to pick up, move, and obey. God and His timing. Thanks to our friend Dwayne Gibbs, Blake and I were invited to share our voices with White House FBC last night. After an hour of girl talk with Kelsey on the way up there, we arrived! The pastor is really genuine, young, and as he said so himself, "not your typical baptist preacher." For example, he wore a trendy black and metallic shirt and had a little faux hawk! I couldn't help but notice the concentration in a pastor's eye like that of a shepherd. As Blake spoke with Ashley he really appreciated his heart for the Lord, how the church reaches out to the community, he's a musician himself, and how this body was not a "churchy church" legalistic, perfect etc.
We could tell after a few hand shakes and hugs that this group was more than congregating; they were a functioning family. Prostitutes, homeless people, and different races are worshiping there! As Blake put it, "sounds like Jesus's friends, awesome!" How beautiful! They also really emphasize discipleship with small groups led in different areas throughout the community such as karate, golf, music groups, cooking groups, etc. REALLY COOL!! But again, no church is perfect.
Even more exciting, Blake walked in the sanctuary and found a stage with drums, two electric guitarists, two keyboardists-including Pastor Ashley on the keys, three vocalists, an acoustic guitar, bass and more! Blake's face couldn't have been any brighter; he was in heaven... NO PEWS EVEN! We're very excited to see that God may have answered our prayers so quickly; ever since Blake stepped down from leading worship at AO we've been so anxious to continue music ministry elsewhere! If it doesn't work out then I'm fine with a stepping stone. It also helps that we could possibly be only fifteen minutes from my sweet nephews and niece!
I am very anxious knowing we may have to leave our friends here, not to mention our lovely new place that we're just now considering home! I guess it's just a reminder to keep the Lord as our foundation... sometimes I just get so distracted with His blessins'! It might be good for us to move...with a new town and new faces we'll have to face the challenge TOGETHER!!
Sounds like God is going to lead you all to a change. And it will be beautiful sharing it with each other, rooted in Christ.
