Spring & Braces

Image
Grateful for our greenway in White House, TN. I was so tempted to go to the grocery and buy some beautiful white flowers, probably hydrangeas, and put them in one of our fancy vases. Then, I realized that flowers die and I would be wasting money on something that I could find in my yard, or the neighbors. ( it was a tree on the corner where our yards meet, ok! haha) I had fun exploring our yards this winter and I found some beautiful pine cones to put on display for the season. FREE!  Although these flowers aren't white, say hello to our yellow Forsythia and purple Crab Apple blossoms! Though they are now dead, they were a delight and didn't cause any unnecessary sneezing! Maybe you're thinking, "hey, Bradford Pears are white! Why not bring them inside?" and to that I would simply say, shoo wee! I have never seen a town with more stinky Bradford Pear Trees! Even though they are stinky, I must admit they are pretty impressive when the little white petals blow in t...

Dark Chocolate Kahlua Truffles

Image
Well, it all started here ; my visit to The Cocoa Tree in Nashville. Please check out that blog post if you have a chance, it was a life changing day for me haa! Then, my wonderful husband bought me this book, and I made chocolate covered caramels.   I've LOVED working with chocolate to cover strawberries, Oreo truffles, or pretzels but, it was about time for me to just try a basic dark chocolate ganache truffle. So, I tied on my apron, turned up the iTunes including Alicia Keys and John Mayer, and started chopping! Blake willingly tested them out before I shared them with the girl friends. W e had a little girls night out on the town so, we decided to come back to our place and enjoy some chocolate and coffee for dessert. I only made half of the recipe and it made twenty, I can't image trying to give away forty truffles. I had SO much fun making these that I can't decide what I like better; taking the pictures, making them, or eating them!  I started with the finest Ghi...

The Bitter & Sweet

Image
Hello! We've definitely welcomed the warmer weather and enjoyed spending time in our cozy sunroom! My gracious grandmother needed to get rid of some furniture so we were grateful to accept! We love our house, so thankful! Blake just looks so handsome, I had to share this lovely picture!  It's been a struggle to deal with the death of my friend at work but I was blessed to have a week filled with baking, spending quality time with Blake, and with friends. We LOVE spending time with our big, small group. We had seven couples over to our house this weekend to fellowship and talk about amazing grace. If this week hadn't been as eventful I'd probably still be weeping but, life goes on. God is good. Romans 8:28 has been an anchor this week; for we know that all things work together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to his purpose. On to the sweet part of my week! I had the pleasure of making some sample cupcakes for my friend's upcoming weddi...
