An Extra Large Christmas Update

Image
Hello again! It's been a busy month of shopping, decking the halls, and preparing for the celebration of Jesus! We're preparing a big ol' Christmas music special that details all the Old Testament prophesies that Christ fulfilled, making a lot of holiday sweets for parties, and making sure that each present gets wrapped. We finally put up our tree a few weeks ago and have enjoyed watching as many Christmas movies as possible before the big day. It's our first Christmas in White House, in our house, with a fireplace, with a dog, and with a new church family. It's been fun looking at last December's blogs to see how much has changed!  It's been so amazing to study the Christmas story all over again... did you know that swaddling cloths were usually wrapped around each limb? This means that Jesus looked like mummy when he was wrapped as a baby...!   On another note, I'm so glad I had the opportunity to make these snowflake cookies inspired by this book ...

When it gets chilly outside you have to share a yummy, extra large soup recipe!  8 slices Smithfield Naturally Hickory Smoked Bacon 1 onion, diced 1/2 cup all purpose flour 3 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth 5 potatoes, baked, peeled and diced 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes 2 cups half & half 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated 1 cup sour cream Salt & pepper to taste (optional) In a large pot cook bacon until crisp; remove and crumble, reserve drippings. Cook onion in bacon drippings until tender; stir in flour and cook for one minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add chicken broth; cook, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly. Put in the diced potatoes, parsley, bacon and half & half; cook for 10 minutes. Stir in cheese and sour cream A few cheesecakes I've made for friends. Fun!

I hope you had a good Thanksgiving holiday! From Maryville, TN to Charleston, SC we traveled!  Our first stop was to see Blake's Mom and Lonas in Maryville, TN so we could celebrate with Lonas's two daughters. Then, we also ate with Blake's grandparents on Thanksgiving day. Blake's grandmother and cousins did such a beautiful job decorating the table with special folded napkins. Aren't they pretty? We enj oyed spending some quality time with Blake's family and even made a surprise visit on our way home from Charleston, SC to Blake's home church in Alcoa. It was such a treat to see so many friendly faces!  When we visit Charleston, my four sisters, three brother in laws, two nephews and niece all stay in a beautiful beach house. It feels like home. My four sisters and I even got to pile up on one bed and talk about the good Lord! We've been going through a devotional-like share time and it was so awesome to recall all the awesome things our Father in hea...
